Wonderful opportunities abound for sailing, scuba diving, hill walking, cycling, bird watching, climbing, deer stalking, salmon and trout fishing. There is a 9 hole golf course and a leisure centre in Ullapool, and sandy beaches are easily accessible.
There are regular Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sailings from Ullapool to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles.

The renowned gardens of Inverewe are 1 1/2 hours drive away along the scenic coastal route A832 which also connects to Oban and the Isle of Skye.
Ullapool is now well-known for its book festival and for music festivals, including Loopallu and the Ullapool Guitar Festival.
