"Beautiful family run bed and breakfast home with all the comforts plus stupendous views. From the freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast to the otters in the loch, this was a break to remember and well worth the drive from Yorkshire. We shall return"
"Lying in my bath after a hard day’s walking, looking over to the hills, anticipating one of Anne’s wonderful home cooked dinners…..this is Tanglewood! Forget the over priced and underdelivered meals in the restaurants in Ullapool, best to eat the delicious food at Tanglewood, where the views are outstanding and the welcome abundant. I slept so well in the comfort of my quiet room and ate the best B and B breakfasts ever – Leo’s poached eggs were a winner! Can’t wait to go back! "
"Stayed for 3 nights end May/beginning June 2010 & what a welcome & location. The bedroom & ensuite was well appointed, comfortable with fine views over Loch Broome,as have all the rooms. The lounge was restful surrounded by interesting mementoes of a much travelled person. Breakfast was everything you could wish for. And not forgetting Henry who showed us round the garden between playing football or fetch the stick. We have already passed recommendations on to a number of friends. "
"It's hard to do justice to the house, the location and the welcome. The house is like a ship, with beautiful curves and fantastic wooden windows overlooking Loch Broom. My room wasn't the one with the balcony but that didn't matter at all, especially as there is a terrace on the ground floor where it's possible to sit peacefully. The room was very comfortable, the pine furniture added character and the home-made biscuits gave it a welcoming feel. From my windows there was a wonderful view across the loch to the mountains on the far side and, looking west, I could see Ullapool harbour. At 11pm it was still light and the only sounds were the wind and the water, with the loch like a sheet of pewter. Breakfast was excellent with fruit, home made cereal and bread and the best ever home made marmalade. With books to borrow, and friendly dogs, this is a real home from home and I've already made up my mind to go back."

The 2010 edition of "Scotland The Best" by Peter Irvine rates Tanglewood House as one of the 5 Great Highland B&Bs. |
A review of Tanglewood House appears on the website Taste-of-Scotland.com:
"A rare and unusual guest house where accomplished cook and proprietor Anne Holloway presents guests with superb skillful meals. She makes use of the best on offer daily from the local fishermen and butcher. Although unlicensed, bring your own wine and enjoy the dishes offered. The sunsets over Loch Broom are truly wonderful."

Tanglewood House was reviewed in the June 2007 edition of Scottish Field as one of its 10 unique B&Bs. The review said:
"With its own beach and 20-foot window overlooking breathtaking views, Tanglewood House is possibly in one of the most delightful locations in Scotland. It takes a matter of seconds to walk the few metres from the door of the guesthouse to the rocky beach and watch the local seals.
Distant from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the incredible scenic backdrop can allow for the ultimate relaxation experience.
All three guest bedrooms have a view over Loch Broom and the distant village and hills on the other side. The guesthouse is also set amid three acres of wild gardens.
Cordon Bleu food is provided, all cooked from local produce bought from fishmongers or butchers nearby."
